Job Description

To provide structural engineering activities with the objectives of compliance with airworthiness requirements and meeting specifications, cost and schedule requirements. This included liaison with CAA, EASA MOD, customer, contractors and internal departments on all matters relating to the required structural engineering standards on behalf of Britten-Norman Aircraft Limited (BNA) Design Office.


Primary tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

To provide a structural engineering service in an effective and well-documented manner, as instructed by the Head of Technical Projects, in accordance with good engineering practice and the Company’s quality assurance system.

To support the overall manufacturing process by the timely production of stress analysis requirements and drawings approved for production.

To provide an effective liaison and advisory service to regulatory bodies, customers and operators.

To support internal and external requests for concession and production permit approvals and to respond in a timely manner.

To ensure that no danger to themselves or others is incurred by the use of unsafe working practices.


Key skills and attributes:

Communication: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with ability to retain composure and flexibility under pressure

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook

Organisation: Ability to multi-task and to determine and manage priorities to meet multiple deadlines

Team Working: Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.


Minimum qualifications requirements:

Academically qualified to degree level (or well-established as a Chartered Engineer) in an aeronautical or structural discipline.  (Experience in lieu of qualifications may be accepted.)

Required experience:

Demonstrable post-graduate experience

Experience of stressing techniques applicable to light / general aviation type aircraft

Of an experience level to become an approved stress signatory within the company approvals
