Job Description

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Engineer to join Britten Norman Limited.

Britten-Norman is the UK’s EASA A2 approved aircraft manufacturer.  We have designed and built aircraft and aircraft systems for over 60 years. Models include the famous Islander and Trislander commuter variants and the latest Manned Airborne Surveillance / ISTAR platform, the Defender 4000

With facilities in Asia, America and Europe Britten-Norman is able to provide in-service support customers across 120 countries. With a wide breadth of approvals, the Company specialises in bringing the latest aerospace technologies to market
 

This role is based at our Isle of Wight premises.

 

Purpose of the role

To provide front-of-house technical support to customers, providing pro-active and innovative solutions to customer requirements, identifying and delivering development opportunities.  Maintaining excellent technical, engineering and product knowledge and be the technical ‘go to’ person for colleagues within the Customer Care team.

 

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

Be forward facing and innovative in delivering new technical solutions, transforming the Customer Care service provision to achieve excellence of service.

To understand the limits of technical advice the Customer Care team can have before referring customers to the formal technical support channels

Offer a first class efficient, effective and professional support service.  Ensuring the customers’ expectations are met as well as constantly striving for improvement in service provided.

Develop and maintain existing accounts/contracts by responding to concerns, issues and enquiries in a prompt, friendly, professional and efficient manner

Maintain co-operative and productive inter-departmental and inter-company relationships and procedures to deliver exceptional customer service at all times

Constantly strive to improve product and brand awareness

 

Key Skills and Attributes:

Excellent communication skills at all levels

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Package

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Ability to remain flexible to meet the wider demands of an expanding business

Good technical/engineering understanding

Excellent command of English spelling and grammar

Strong numerical skills

Ability to read and understand product specifications and technical drawings

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

5 GCSEs at Grade C or above

Further education in engineering and sales, ideally in aerospace related field

Further education in business or marketing would be desirable

A level or similar would be desirable

College Degree or similar would be desirable

 

Required Experience

Technical/engineering background

Experience in technical sales in aerospace or similar industries

Experience in a customer support and/or sales environment would be desirable

Experience of purchasing

Experience working in the aerospace, automotive, manufacturing or similar industries

Experience in the area of spare parts/repairs supply
