Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a IT Engineer to join Britten Norman Limited.

Britten-Norman is the UK’s EASA A2 approved aircraft manufacturer.  We have designed and built aircraft and aircraft systems for over 60 years. Models include the famous Islander and Trislander commuter variants and the latest Manned Airborne Surveillance / ISTAR platform, the Defender 4000.

With facilities in Asia, America and Europe Britten-Norman is able to provide in-service support customers across 120 countries. With a wide breadth of approvals, the Company specialises in bringing the latest aerospace technologies to market.

 

This role will be based at our Southampton Office premises.

 

Purpose of the role

To design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve a stable, secure and responsive operating environment to ensure the high performance of the various business systems

 

Primary tasks
Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

Troubleshoot technical problems by analysing, identifying and diagnosing faults

Provide technical advice, guidance and informal training to users

Maintain and develop secure, stable and responsive operating environments to support the company's Windows servers, workstations and client base

Assess IT developments and their impact on the company's computing infrastructure, and supply technical input to recommend and implement new technologies that can provide cost-effective business benefit

Select solutions, prepare quotations and process orders for software and hardware purchases for approval by the Board, tracking purchase orders and managing returns

 

Key skills and attributes:

Communication: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with ability to retain composure and flexibility under pressure

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook

Organisation: Ability to multi-task and to determine and manage priorities to meet multiple deadlines

Team Working: Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.

 

Minimum qualifications requirements:

MCITP/MCSE Certified or equivalent

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English

 

Required experience

Previous demonstrable experience within a corporate environment

Experience of design, implementation and administration across multiple geographical locations

Network & Security (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, DSL, Firewalls)

Datacentre & Servers (Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, Active Directory)

Email & Collaboration (Exchange 2013, Skype for Business Server & SharePoint 2013)

Virtualisation, Storage & Backup (Hyper-V Core, Arcserve)

Desktop (Mac OS X, Windows 7, Windows 10)

WDS / Wim Imaging

Mac OS X Integration with Active Directory would be desirable

Mitel Telephony Administration would be desirable

Implementation and administration of System Center 2012 would be desirable

Office 365 Administration would be desirable

CAT 5 / 6 Cabling Installation would be desirable
