Job Description 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join Britten-Norman Aircraft Limited, a Britten-Norman group company, producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK.  Whilst we have been successfully producing aircraft continuously for over 50 years, weare also a leading aerospace SME and offer a wide range of aviation related services to an international client base.

 

As a buyer you will be supporting the Supply Chain Manager and Senior Buyer by buying and expediting products and services as required.


This role is based at our Southampton premises. This role would also involve travelling to other Britten-Norman sites and customer sites.

 

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

·      Identify suppliers, raise supplier Request for Quotations (RFQs) and negotiate the most effective output to serve the needs of Britten-Norman Aircraft Ltd (cost reduction).

·      Raise Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company policies and procedures based on Britten-Norman Aircraft Limited’s approved data, as defined with the BOM or other approved data / modifications.

·      Create / produce relevant reports on behalf of the Procurement Department, Customer Support and Production teams.

·      Undertake general administrative tasks for the Procurement Department.

·      Expedite all orders for the Procurement and Production Departments in accordance with agreed schedule and update the process control software accordingly.

 

Key Skills and Attributes: 

·      Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with ability to retain composure and flexibility under pressure

·      Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook

·      Ability to multi-task and to determine and manage priorities to meet multiple deadlines

·      Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements: 

 

·      Five GCSE’s at Grade C or above to include English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications

·      Degree in business, economics, relevant subject or similar level of education would be desirable but not essential 

·      CIPS (or working towards) would be desirable but not essential 
 

Required Experience

 

·       Experience in a purchasing role

·       Experience in supplier negotiations

·       Experience of producing statistical analysis and reports

·       Experience in the Aviation or Defence sector would be desirable
