Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Aircraft Technician to join BN Aviation Ltd, a subsidiary of the Britten-Norman Limited, producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK.

Britten-Norman also manufactures a highly versatile, low cost surveillance aircraft type which is in use with a number of military and police operators world-wide including the UK’s Army Air Corps.

This role is based at our Daedalus Airfield, Lee-on-the-Solent premises.


Job Purpose

Working to completion deadlines, following specific instructions from management carry out aircraft maintenance, inspection, rectification and modification of mechanical systems and structures in accordance with approved data, company procedures and regulatory requirements. Work to achieve optimum productivity both individually and within the team.


Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

Carry out aircraft maintenance, inspection and repair of mechanical systems and structures either at home base or deployed, in accordance with approved data.

Carry out the embodiment of aircraft mechanical modifications in accordance approved data.

Carry out fault finding of defects, rectifying defects as found in accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Manual and other Approved Data.

Mentoring of Apprentices.

Responsible for ensuring quality standards is maintained to the highest level


Key Skills and Attributes:

Ability to carry out modifications to aircraft structures in accordance with drawings and modification leaflets.

Ability to fault-find and rectify mechanical systems.

Ability to carry out aircraft maintenance.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of people at all levels within the business.

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Ability to remain flexible to meet the wider demands of an expanding business.

Good command of English spelling and grammar in all written correspondence.


Minimum Qualification/Licence Requirements:

Served recognised Avionics / Electrical Apprenticeship or MIL Aviation Tech Class 2 or BTEC Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering and NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering or Part 66 B1 Maintenance License.

5 GCSE grade C or above including Maths, English and a Science subject.

EASA Part 147 Islander Airframe Course (within 6 months of start date).

Current Human Factors certificate.

Full, clean UK (car) driving licence.


Required Experience:

Experience in embodying aircraft modifications.

Extensive experience in carrying out aircraft maintenance.

Experience of working on small turbo-prop or piston fixed wing aircraft would be desirable

Aircraft production experience would be desirable
