Job Description 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Standards Inspector to join Britten-Norman Aircraft Limited, a subsidiary of the Britten-Norman Limited, producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK.  


Britten-Norman also manufactures a highly versatile, low cost surveillance aircraft type which is in use with a number of military and police operators world-wide including the UK’s Army Air Corps.


We are looking for a Quality Standards Inspector whose focus will be to ensure safety, quality, cost and delivery of manufactured parts to our customers.

This role is based at our Isle of Wight premises.


Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

·     Ensure that:

·     works orders are closed once inspection process has been completed

·     picking lists are created and components issued once taken for use

·     Received goods are inspected and located to stock in a timely manner,

·     Liaising with suppliers in the event of incomplete/incorrect paperwork or parts to resolution.

·     Non-Conforming parts are quarantined.

·     Perform tensile testing and component Inspection

·     Ensure that production matters that relate to airworthiness of the product are reported to the appropriate departments to ensure compliance with requirements. 

·     To ensure tools, jigs, fixtures are calibrated in accordance with BN procedures and a register maintained. Obtaining quotes from calibration and new tool suppliers to raising the Purchase request.

·     Ensure all inspection stages are completed within a timely manner, in line with schedule and that the quality of the work produced is in accordance with our QAP procedures.


Key Skills and Attributes: 

·     Communication: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with ability to retain composure and flexibility under pressure

·     Computer Skills: A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook

·     Organisation: Ability to multi-task and to determine and manage priorities to meet multiple deadlines

·     Team Working: Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.


Minimum Qualification Requirements: 


·      5 GCSEs at Grade C or above

·      It is desirable to have NVQ Performing Engineering Operations

·      Ideally the candidate would have a College Degree or similar level of education

Required Experience


·     Aerospace/Manufacturing industry experience.

·     Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable

·     Understanding of ISO 9000 regulations

·     Experience in aircraft component manufacture

·     Experience in component inspection



·      Contributory pension scheme up to 4%
