Job Description 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Avionics Team Leader to join BN Aviation Limited, an EASA Part 145 approved MRO. BN Aviation is a Britten-Norman group company, producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK.  Britten-Norman is the UK’s only independent civil aircraft manufacturer and has been producing aircraft continuously for over 50 years.


This role is based at our Lee-on-the-Solent premises.

 

Purpose of the role

To support the Management Team in ensuring aircraft maintenance and modifications are completed to the required standards in accordance with the Company procedures and Regulatory airworthiness, design and quality requirements.  To meet the agreed company / customer requirements and programme plan.

 

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

 

·       Supervising the Avionics Team.

·       Carrying out avionics and mission equipment modifications of aircraft in accordance with approved data. 

·       Carrying out base and line maintenance of aircraft in accordance with approved data.

·       Test systems in accordance with aircraft maintenance manuals and other Approved Data.

·       Working both at BN Aviation’s Lee-on-the-Solent facility and at customers facilities throughout the world.

·       Mentoring of Apprentices.

·       Carrying out fault –finding of defects and rectifying defects in accordance with aircraft maintenance manuals and other Approved Data.

 

Key Skills and Attributes: 

·      Ability to fabricate/modify basic loom assemblies in accordance with wiring schedules, drawings and modification leaflets.

·      Ability to fault-find avionics/electrical systems.

·      Ability to use a wide range of avionics tooling and test equipment.

·      Effective in a team and as an individual. Precise, accurate and meticulousness. Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.

·       Ability to lead and supervise a team of technicians.

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements: 

 

·   Served recognised Avionics / Electrical Apprenticeship or Part 66 B2 Maintenance License.

·       5 GCSE grade C or above including Maths, English and a Science subject.

·       EASA Part 147 Islander Airframe Course (within 6 months of start date).

·       Current Human Factors certificate.

·       OEM Basic Avionics Course (within 6 months of start date).


 

Required Experience

 

·       Extensive experience in the manufacture/modification or maintenance of aircraft systems.

·       Extensive experience in the manufacture or modification of aircraft loom assemblies.

·       Extensive experience of aircraft maintenance.

·       Experience of supervising a team of aircraft technicians.
